Every couple dreams of the perfect wedding venue. From setting to accommodation, the chapel, and a host of finer details, there’s a lot to consider. But the real challenge is being able to find all of this in one location. Weddings have been taking place at Oakhurst for a number of years now and have allowed for a range of wedding packages to cover all bases…and cover them in style.
Going to the chapel
The historic white-washed chapel on Oakhurst was built in 1874. The building’s character and setting, amongst a glade of blue gum trees is picturesque to say the least, and has a distinctly rural feel to it. It’s a wedding photographer’s dream and a fitting place for the bride and groom to exchange their wedding vows.
Setting the scene
The three wedding settings at Oakhurst have been carefully placed, each offering something quite different from the other. Under Bluegum, closest to the chapel, offers sweeping views of the mountains and pastures, aptly named after the huge gum tree in its centre. Country Garden is set close to the historic manor house, with tended gardens and sprawling lawns. A huge oak tree takes centre stage. Isis Dam provides a fairytale setting, overlooking a small natural pond, spectacular when lit up in the evening. This setting is also close to the chapel.
A place to lay your weary head
The accommodation at Oakhurst is fully inclusive and forms part of the wedding packages. This includes The Forge (sleeps 6), The five Farm Cottages (each sleeping 6), The three Schoolyard units (each sleeping 4), The Flat (sleeps 6), as well as the eight Africamps glamping tents (each sleeping 5). As with the wedding settings, each of the accommodation options is unique, comfortable and well-suited to a wide range of guest requirements.
Adding the extras
The finer details are often all that’s needed to bring the whole celebration together. The Oakhurst team work with a number of local suppliers and caterers, who they can recommend. This, as well as a number of additional services such as child minding, meet and greet braai evenings, shuttle service for guests not staying on the farm and catering options, are available on request.
